If you don't live in Michigan, you've probably never heard of the Chinese-American dish called almond boneless chicken. It consists of a battered and deep fried chicken breast cut into thick slices, laid on a bed of iceberg lettuce and topped with mild brown gravy and toasted almonds. After years of trying to find it outside the state, I finally came to accept that ABC was "a Michigan thing." But how did it get there?
